Anyone on here got a Silverline? Or failing that any Mk1 Octy TDI 90?

Can you tell me what year it is and whether it comes with the AGR or ALH engine

Interesting your 2001 is an ALH engine. Do you know if your turbo is VNT or wastegated?

Reason I'm asking is I'm hoping to get another mk1 Octy in the future and want to go for a TDI with the least potential problems.

I had a 2001 (Y reg) ALH TDI Ambiente which had a VNT turbo. I think pre-facelift Mk1 Octavia's with 90bhp TDI had a wastegate turbo.

most if not all will be vnt. Keep your oil fresh and the ALH inc turbo is about the most reliable engine you can own

Well my 2001 has covered 130k vnt turbo and been trouble free my 2005 covered 307k vnt and ran great it was a classic

Mines done 170k, turbo needed a quick clean with mr muscle, like new again, ready for another 170k
