I ava fabia vrs 1.9 tdi and i seem to av a problem gettin it into 1st and reverse. Any ideas of what this could be as its very frustrating! Its like the clutch doesnt disengage?!

Hiya.

There's a number of things that could be:-

  1. Particularly likely if you've had the brake fluid renewed recently - Clutch needs bled: The garage that changed the fluid should have known and done this, so it's on them.
  2. Gear linkage needs adjusting.
  3. Clutch slave cylinder needs replacing.
  4. Clutch plate is nearing the end of its life. DOes the biting point of the clutch seen very high or very low? If so, then this is the problem.

as above, my bet is linkeage adjustment, heres a guide, try that first, as its free - if this is the linkage you have of course

Do not try this without removing the battery.

You'll likely bust the locking pin as access is almost impossible with the battery and tray in the way.

Have a look at the below:

HI, and welcome to the forum :hi:

Amazing no-one has suggested to use the search yet!! ;):D

Hello and welcome, as said above might just be a linkage in need of adjustment. Also check the reversing switch. I had a Fabia once that had gear selection issues. New linkages and switch....job done.
