Engine undertray replacement

Featured Replies

Has anyone replaced their engine undertray? Was it a full-size undertray or the later, revised, part-size undertray? The latter does not protect the sump, it seems. I originally asked about this here but got no replies.

I wouldn't bother replacing it as its not needed

That's true on smooth, clear roads. I recall someone on this forum taking his sump out on a rock in Cheddar Gorge a few years back.

The engine bay stays cleaner with it on.

If an impact is enough to crack a sump i dont think less than 5mm of plastic is going to make a difference when hitting a rock.

Nothing on a car is put there if it's not needed - cars are one of the most value engineered products on earth.

I presume it's installed for (a) keeping the engine clean but, primarily (B) improving the economy by smoothing the airflow under the car.

I wouldn't want to take the risk of sump damage or aircon compressor damage.

Can get a new one for £31.95 + p&p

Thanks, but the correct one for my 2.0i is:

This is the part-size tray that supersedes the old full-size tray for the petrol versions. It does not look like the diesel could be adapted to suit.
