Removing rear seat back side trim

Featured Replies

Hope someone can help....

Fitted a detachable towbar today to my 2012MY Estate. No problem fitting the bar, and have fitted the electrics kit (genuine skoda 13 pin kit) and got it through into the boot. I need to run the loom through to the BCM under the dash, with the suggested Skoda route being along the drivers side lower pillar trims.

I have almost removed the boot side trim but can't detach it where it meets the seats. I think I need to remove the rear seat back edge trim (the bit that stays in place with the seat belt on it when you fold the seats down) but can't figure out how to remove it - anyone know? I am a confident DIYer but can't seem to locate the fixings. I've tried giving it a good yank but no joy and I don't dare try any harder in case I break something.

A mate of mine is coming to connect to the wires into the BCM next weekend and code the kit in, but I was hoping to get the wires routed to save time before he comes as he's doing it as a favour.

Cheers

You are right about the part that has to be removed. To remove it:

- If you have rear side airbags, disconnect the battery!

- Now simply remove the nut near the lower seat belt bolt. Now you can move the cushion upwards and unhook it.

- Unclip the airbag connector, and you're ready.

Thanks. Luckily no rear side airbags so I can crack on with that tomorrow!

One more hint: try to obtain a copy of Elsawin (they can be obtained from various sources on the internet). This software contains in-depth (dis)assembly manuals of almost all parts of your Skoda.

On my 2012 car I couldn't just slide it up. Once the nut at the bottom is removed, theres a clip halfway up. Still can't really describe how to get it off but twisting and puling a bit and it came off. If you try to move it you should be able to feel where it's still held, and you can sort of see it too.

Once this was off, it slides up as described, though it can be a fiddle to get the top fixing out as it's a keyhole slot and you can slide it too far.
