Jumbo Box option, SE+

Featured Replies

Hi all

Can anybody tell me - if I order an SE+ with the jumbo box option, does that effectively give me the front centre armrest?

Also, the options page in the brochure indicates that the cruise control on the Elegance is not available with the 1.4TSI despite being standard with that model. Is that just me misreading the info?

Thanks in advance for any replies...

I've not looked at the brochure but presumably cruise isn't available as an option because it is standard?

(although most manufacturers tend to indicate that with an 's' or something)

Just a quick pointer - as of 5th October dealers can't order any new Octavias.

You would have to check with your dealer what is available from free stock.

The negative is it may not be your exact spec, the positive it will only be 2 - 3 weeks away.

Don't get overexcited about the Jumbo box. All I can say is that Czech elephants must be pygmies! It really isn't very big at all.

Unlike an Avensis I drove a couple of weeks ago where the space under the centre armrest would comfortably house a family of 4!

Also with the Jumbo box be prepared to modify your handbrake grip - it severely restricts access, especially if the armrest is up a notch or 2 and slid forward (ie is in a position where it can be used as an armrest).

The armrest is the jumbo box lid, so yes you will get the centre armrest if you order the jumbo box.

Looking at the brochure that I have just downloaded, it does say on the options page about cruise control not available as a factory option on 1.4TSI. However, on the Elegance specifications page it says that the Elegance has cruise control fitted as standard, and there is nowhere in the brochure saying that the Elegance 1.4TSI does not have cruise. If is wasn't fitted on the Elegance 1.4TSI, surely it would state "cruise control standard, except on 1.4 TSI variants".

I think it's safe to say it will be fitted.

Mike

Agreed, I have a new 1.4Tsi Elegance and cruise control was a standard fit on this spec.

Thanks everyone for the advice. I realised I was misreading the brochure - it's the 1.4 16v where cruise control isn't available, i.e. the 80ps, not the TSI 122 ps.

To be honest I'm more interested in having it as an arm rest than for its storage capacity. As for the handbrake - my current mk6 Golf has a centre armrest and it's exactly the same, I modified my grip years ago!

I spoke to my local dealer today (8/10) - they say that they're still able to place factory orders, but thanks for the advice.

Jumbo box - possibly the most inappropriatley named option ever.

When I bought my Octavia secondhand from a dealer the spec included a Jumbo box - Was not too bothered that it did not have a Jumbo box, assumed it was an hohnest error in writing up the spec list. Just as well I did not create a fuss as it turned out the tiny box under the armrest was infact the Jumbo box.

Come to think of it if the jumbo box really was jumbo how would it fit?

Still worth it for the armrest though.
