Vauxhall Signum....oh the shame

Featured Replies

I've found myself looking increasingly at the Signum. Particularly the 1.9 CDTi 150bhp model in Design trim (lowered sports suspension, 18" rims)

I know above all, it's a Vauxhall, which, in itself is bad enough.

But.........

A car which lists at

is the signum the one clarkson drove with string and garden tools from the back seat?

PhilC has one.

IMHO they are a bunch of &$

Might "wander" to the local dealer on Friday to "investigate" but didn't someone on here actually own and run a Signum?

Views/Experiences etc.......

Someone I know has one, and his opinion is "not as good as the Omega"...

For a motorway cruiser the Vectra is pretty good though - good soundproofing, etc. and spacious inside with decent seats. Can't see the Signum being much different...

Rob.

I actually like the signum..

one of our directors has one... black with pimp tints and it looks pretty mean from the rear 1/4

shame it spends more time at the garage or side of the road

Perhaps one of esteemed staff could get you a good deal. ;):D

Go on, I'm listening intently........

What sort of problems does it have? Petrol or Diesel?

Tell me before I do something rash... :D

Adrian, now which "esteemed" staff member might that be then?

not a signum but i had a vec 2.2 dti new shape sri and only kept it for4 months

cos of the problems with it injector seals going leek off pipes sold it to a mate who has spent mega bucks on it

its in the garage now getting a new ecu fitted no warrenty cos its a taxi

but only 40000 miles on it at the min

Any modern car should be pretty reliable these days. Even the worst are actually pretty good, don't worry too much about 'I had a bad one' as it's not really a statistical breakdown, rather an opinion.

I think at 12 months old you can't do better than the big Vauxhall barges!

My father has one and I think they are nice solid cars, even if they are overspecced in the rear, it is a comfy enough ride and the car has enough power to keep it cruising all day long. At the end of the day though it is just a reworked vectra. It's up to you.

Have you considerd other options like....................................................

Only if they start doing a diesel engine for:

Nissan Skyline / 350Z

Mitsubishi Galant VR4

Now, what do you think are the chances? Fuel consumption bills killed off my petrol Octy, so performance/sports cars running petrol are not going to fare very well (Monthly bill with Octy was approaching

I have had my corsa SRi 1.7 CDTi for about a month now.

I am well impressed so far, build quality is as good as the furby, it handles like a dream is faster, quieter and cheaper to insure. So if you can find a good un then go for it...think of the saving.

Hmmm

I test drove one of these when looking for a new car. I also test drove he Furby. Both cars were well specced, but one was slow, crashy suspension and had a cheap interior. The other I bought!

Just my opinion of couse. I still think they are a cracking car, just too expensive. If they were

In theory, a 12 month old purchase isn't too bad in terms of reliability, because anything that's prone to premature failure due to bad materials / construction will have already failed (and presumably been replaced under warranty), and then you will have a period of relatively trouble-free motoring until things start to wear out at the end of their working life. Or at least that's what the textbooks would have you believe. It's usually true, to be fair, and you should still have two years warranty left 'just in case'...

MUst admit, when car shopping with SWMBO we were both very disappointed with the Corsa's dynamics.
