Part-Ex / Selling 1.6MPI - How much?

Featured Replies

I'm getting increasingly tempted to go get a vRS (either Furby or Octy - i cant decide at the moment!)... I might wait till December and hope the new octavia vrs comes out, but I might find myself unable to wait and just buy a current one!

I've done some searching, but cant work out how much I'd get for my current Octy2. Anyone got any ideas?

1.6 MPI New Octavia Classic (54 Reg - Oct 04)

5,000 miles (or will be by that time anyway)

Air con, 'small leather pack', remote control alarm

Excellent condition (i'd change the hubcaps probably - idiots on roundabouts seem to target me) save for 2 scrapes that will polish out (god knows how they got there) and a stone chip that im getting repaired by 'chips away'.

Oh, and a small hole in passenger seat that i need to repair, but isnt noticeable anyway.

thanks in anticipation :)

EDIT: and yeah, I realise its stupid to even consider trading it in this soon... but im interested none the less :)

If your thinking of a Fabia vRS, but would still like the space of the Octavia, just go for the 2.0l diesel. Its just the next generation of the Fabias engine and just as quick. If not, I'd personally wait for the Octavia vRS to come out.

hahaha, I think it's safe to say 'no chance'! Always worth a shot though, I suppose! I should test drive one first, really. At the end of the day I've not driven an Octy or Fabia vRS, and I might find I dont even like them (fat chance of that though, going on what ive seen since finding briskoda!)

As nice as the Fabia vRS is to drive, it's nowhere near as raw and fun as the Clio182, Fiesta ST or Pug 206 to drive. The handilng is not as sharp and there is not much information through the steering to put it up there with the best of them. To me it seems more comfortable cruising along a motorway in 6th than going round the twisties in 3rd.

So, I tried this yesterday on an ex-demo Furby vRS (standard save for Black Magic pain) at my local dealership. Well, I didn't ask for a straight swap, but I tried a trade in. I was looking at paying around 2k, maybe just a little bit more. Dealer wasn't going below

Why not sell privately then buy with the cash from drivethedeal?

I would, but the problem is then I have a wait of 6 weeks or so for delivery of the car - I don't have the cash to buy it then sell the other one. Unless anyone has any ideas on how I could do that...? I'd rent a car from easycars or something, but I'm 20 and most hire car companies wont rent to me because of the age limits they have!

selling private and buying new would obviously be the most finanacially benificial for me...
