quick questions re service.

Featured Replies

vrs cr tdi ltd edition.

Just had timing belt/ water pump and major service done at 67k and picked the car up tonight.

On the way home the engine temp warning came on so i stopped and had a look and the coolant is well below the min line, as a matter of fact there is only a drop in the bottom and what there is there seems quite dirty water.

2 questions.

1, when the water pump was changed should all of the coolant have been flushed and changed or is this not normally part of the job? would they have just topped it up?

2, i asked for variable service as we do appx 23k a year but the book has been stamped for next service on a fixed plan. Is it different oil that used for variable or can i just get the garage to amend the service warning in maxidot?

I dont want to name and shame the garage at the mo as i want to give them chance to sort it out, but i would expect better from a main dealer garage, i am very cheesed off.to say the least.

thanks

Changing the water pump requires the coolant to be drained. The doofus hasn't refilled it!?

Did the car overheat? Are there any obvious leaks?

The diesel vRS uses the same oil whether it is on fixed or variable due to the DPF. Although I would double check that they've actually put any oil back in!

Sounds like you got the work experience lad!

Thanks for the reply, i will get on to the garage tomorrow.

No obvious leaks, and it didnt overheat is i stopped as soon as the light flashed up and check my temp was down before "coasting" home the rest of the way!

To be honest i was just reading another thread where a fellow briskodian has had issues with his Vrs. I can honestly say that my Vrs has been awful to own so far and this service has just topped it off.

It seems to have been back to the garage like a yo yo! Turbo, brakes, bonnet catch, lights, rear wiper etc etc the list goes on of things that have gone wrong. Its a real shame as the car is really good to drive when it works, but i think i was spoilt by my previous car (honda accord i-cdti) that never had any issues other than regular service in 120k of mileage.
