vRS Mud Flaps - Conclusion!

Featured Replies

I finally got the confidence up to fit my mud flaps today.

The fronts were a piece of cake. No need to even take the wheels off.

As for the back, they were just as easy! After taking the wheel off, to get them to fit all you need to do is get a really sharp knife (I used the long one on my Swiss Army knife) and trim the lip of the outer bumper inside the arch. You can use the inner arch to guide the blade around. This really is easy, and isn't in anyway intimidating! The plastic is really quite soft so is easy to cut. I managed to do this in one motion, leaving a nice smooth result. The flaps then fitted a treat, and I'm dead chuffed with the results, makes the back end look wider, and will hopefully keep the car a wee bit cleaner in the wet!

You'd never notice the cut lip on the bumper unless you knew what you were looking for, as long as the cut is smooth, it won't look asif its been chopped at all!

So all of you who are intimidated by chopping your back bumper up (I was) - theres no need! Get down your dealers and order some flaps!

(Many thanks to all the help received by those who have done this before :) )

Need to change your sig now.

Thanks for the heads up!

Now done!

I can see myself spending so much money on this car! Something reassuring doning things that many other have done before you!

Could you post any pictures? Front and back please?

Would be nice to see what they look like and how neatly they go on.

EDIT:

What are the part numbers and how much were they?

Cheers for the pics mcbunny

I wouldn't worry about part numbers as all dealers will surely have them on the shelf!

Fronts

Why is it people are modifying the bumper to get the mudflups to fit? Would it not be easier and less risky to cut the mudflap to fit rather than potentially risking bodywork, painting issues.

its easier to mod the mumper than the flaps
