Hi all. Just wondered can you reset the throttle body after a clean with vcds lite?

I don't think you can unless it is the registered version.

How did you clean it with vcds lite? Whats next doing the dishes with microsoft works? :giggle:

No need to perform VCDS throttle adaptation as the ECU will adapt it over a few driving cycles.

If it was left plugged in, no need to.

I just left mine plugged in, cleaned what I could then jammed the throttle open, switched on the ignition and cleaned the rest :)

Don't need to anyway. Just drive it.

If you have unplugged the TB to clean it, when you reinstall turn the ignition on & listen for a whistling sound coming from the TB it's important not to start the car until the whistle stops.

Ive got a throttle body in my spare room thats been done black ?

Will it just bolt on and do what my current one is doing ?

Yep, as long as they've not painted the inside of it!

You'll probably need a new gasket as well, they cost a couple of quid from the dealers

obviously follow the re-set procedure above as it needs to get used to the new throttle (your old one is probably a little gunked up I would've thought, so it will have got used to running with that)

Thanks for the comments guys. I will just leave it situ and clean as per the how 2.

I'll just let clive do it ...... Id only break it :(

Don't jam the butterfly flap open unless its cable operation. Forcing it open on DBW throttle will break it. Turn the ignition on & push the gas pedal fully down with something or somone. When you've finished cleaning turn ignition off reinstall the TB, & turn ignition back on untill TB stops whistling then start up as normal. The ECU will relearn & adapt the TB over a few driving cycles. If you have VCDS then you can do a TB adaptation which sorts things straight off.

Mines been on and off more times than i care to remember including when i cleaned it and never had a problem even when starting car straight up after doing it

I believe if you let the TB whistling stop before starting it helps the adaptation process. Sure I read that on vwVortex site a few years ago.
