wanting new exhaust section but need help

Featured Replies

Evening guys,

I live on island where the exhaust company is far from good so have a question for people.

The idea: wanting a 3" or 4" centre section from downpipe to back box

Would need know size from downpipe so could be increased

Stainless pipe is cheapish so is it possible for someone to do a group buy if enough people are interested

It means it removes centre silencer and increases airflow reducing back pressure but also means could be easily removed if wanted

The overall result: a stainless pipe with exhaust fixing both sides and been bent to the requirements to fit under car, which means could also be fitted to oem back box (depends on opening of backbox) or new back box

I believe its better then cutting silencer out for a tenner

Would anyone be able to help or think its a rubbish idea and should have kept my ideas to myself.

The Milltek catback on my car has 2.76" diameter pipe and was an incredibly tight fit in places according to the dealer that installed it! With that in mind I'm not sure 3 or 4" will work.

3" is abit big for the cat back 4" is just ludicrous. Also why have a pipe that's a 2.25" down pipe to a 3" centre section back to 2.25 back box. The air flow would be horrendous. Plus you'd need to have flanges welded on to the dp, the back box and both ends of the pipe that you remove to make it swapable. Not really worth it unfortunately dude.

Ach that sound man didnt realise exhaust soo small.

Was wanting to change back box and then thought changing pipe before it so could get rid of silencer but ohwell

Is there no flange that can taken from?

Well thanks for response guys

There is no joins in the pipe from the centre silencer back so the only way is to cut it to get it out from over the rear axle. To remove the centre silencer you have to cut the down pipe which is a bit of a pain.

I removed the full oem exhaust in 2 sections, no cutting just remove the two bolts that hold the rear axle to the main body making sure you disconnect the two abs wires either side which are clipped onto the axle & remove the two brake line holding clips because they obstruct the axle from being lowered as much as needed then the exhaust simply twists out over the rear beam.

Alright looking at it I'm sure the would have worked but cutting seemed an easier option. I just cut it on the small straight that runs parallel with the axle and got another sleeve the same as the one which joins the mid box to the rest of the system. Worked quite well
