Since I had my car remapped......

Featured Replies

Black dots on the back of the car.....thousands of them! They don't come off with general washing and I had to use petrol!

That cannot be just tar being flung up from the road, it has to be something to do with the remap? I never had this issue before it was remapped. I also have a mufflerectomy too. But no decat.

It's cold mate, steamy exhaust spitting out water charged with soot = little black dots sucked up to the rear of the car :£)

I was in the same dilemma some time back, only, the dots were on the other side of the exhaust, so I guess it has nothing to do with the emissions. Had to use strong detergents to clean them and after hours of rubbing, they came off but with a slight loss of shine and a few noticeable spots!

Could have been raw Tar.

Iron x or tar remover should get rid of them no problem.

It's bloody annoying lol. They've all gone now, used petrol and then gave the car a good sealing. Should hopefully make them easier to clean off. I hate my car even having a tiny bit of dirt on it!

Who did you use for the remap?

How smokey is it?

How smokey is it?

Doesn't seem to be too smokey but ill do a test later on.

Could just be exhaust deposits that have been liberated by the extra performance :)

Have never noticed that issue myself though, with 3 mapped Fabias I've had. Anything that does get put out by the exhaust is likely to find itself stuck to the tailgate though, due to the Fabia's aerodynamics...

Yeh I followed one the other day and you can see when the smoke comes out the exhaust it gets swirled back and up against the back of the car.

It's the design of the tailpipe coming straight out too.

On our car it has the standard type exhaust with the two pipes that point down to the tarmac = no sooty bum. I only get a little bit when it's not been washed for a while or after a long journey that has involved some higher gear foot to the floor type driving. Also when a boost pipe popped off :)

Just give it a good thrashing and see if that clears it out.

Could also be some stuff coming loose in the turbo if the turbo is now being pushed a little harder.

My dad said that its not that smokey when I over take :)

Also you may be able to help me, I'm wanting to get a decat but not sure if ill have any issues being its remapped. Car is never driven hard unless its warm and always driven easy / left to idle before I turn it off :)

I have tried to contact shark about it a couple of time but no response

All you have to look at is when it's cold and you start a Fabia vRS up, then drive off down the road. You can see the cold exhaust fumes running straight up the back of the tailgate. So doesn't really matter what design the tailpipe is, that's where the aerodynamics send it :)

Give Shark a ring, as they often get swamped on here and by email.

Decat with your map isn't a problem. Ideally the map should be tweaked to allow for the decat, as you'll get better running that way.

Mines does a massive puff of smoke just when I start it lol.

I'll give them a call. Would just like a bit more of a grunty noise with the de-cat :) hopefully shouldn't need tweaking :)
