Why does my car go to -1 on the boost gauged when revved from stand still

Featured Replies

All so the car won't produce any boost at all

I think, just maybe the problems are linked...

probably limp mode, or fudged turbo. what codes have you for us?

-1 means at least your vac systems ok.

Have you plumbed it into the vacuum box or the top plastic boost pipe? If youve gone for the pipes of the vacuum box then thats why its reading negative.

Well I have changed the map sensor and still doing it I am going changed the coolant temp sensor tomoro see if that makes a difference part from that I don't know what do

Id check the wiring to the map sensor myself, p0237 is MAP sensor circuit A iirc and youll probably find the wiring broken or damaged if its been stretched to fit.

This is the fault code I had - I've extended the wiring loom on mine. That was the cause of the fault on my car.

What do you mean by wiring loom do u mean the wires to the map sensor mate

Yes

this is where in went wrong he had written p0327 not p0237

thats why i said knock sensor

Yeah I looked it up, thought they don't have one and wondered if he meant 0237.

It's all guesswork anyhow but sounds fairly likely.

Right guys I can get it stop dropping in vacuum by turning boost up on actuator but it boost to 0.5 bar just revving it slightly on tick over then will boost past 2bar but if u turn the boost down a little it goes in vacuum again

Is your actuator broken then? Is it working with vac? If you can make it boost bu hand

  • Author

Yeah can make it boost but it boost hard so turn it down on actuator and it goes in vac to just under -1 then won't boost at all

on idle its supposed to be in vacuum a little bit. Cant figure out why i t wont boost if adjusted correctly, unless map sensor need replaced

That wouldn't cause the fault code.

And the VNT actuator is a precisely set up bit of equipment, it's not supposed to be messed with, it's not a wastegate.
