Amundsen playlists - SD Card - How do you create

Featured Replies

Tried to create a playlist, it didn't appear to select it anywhere. The music tracks and folders did appear.

Anyone tried it or got it working?

I too will be following this thread with interest!

Cool that's two of us then!

I'll try and get some time tomorrow to experiment.

someone in another thread mentioned that if you create the playlist file in Windows, be sure to edit it and remove any drive letters in the path leaving for example \folder\song, you should be able to edit it with notepad

the amundsen won't understand drive letters.

Just done a quick test and its working! Just came on and found the extra notes above, all match what I just tried - thanks. So......

I used a tool called 'Playlist Creator 3.6.2' - Pretty much firt tool I found through Google!

I created a playlist that does not include a drive letter or relative paths to the music

This is 'Absolute Without drive' in Playlist creators settings.

I decided to go with '.pls' for the playlists - manual says its supports PLS B4S ASX and WPL

I managed to create a playlist for an album and a mixed playlist playing music from different folders.

Example playlist taking music from 2 folders. The main point is the file name is just the path to the folder, no drive letter.

[playlist]

Just tested it and all working, now to see if I can convert iTunes playlists to PLS or ASX!

Just converted a iTunes playlist to ASX format, tested and working!

Feels like a bodge and there may be more elegant ways of doing this but here's my method - Assuming a Windows PC and iTunes!:

Export Playlist as M3U

Double click it, opens in Media Player

Press ALT, drop down menu select File 'Save Now playing List as'

Select save as Any Playlist

Type a file name ending with .ASX

This converts the playlist but it will have full path names in it.

So open the file in Notepad and search and replace:

For me Find D:\Media\MP3\

Replace with \

Save the playlist it to the memory card, in the root of the folder structure.

Test it in the car.
