Black grill surround?

Featured Replies

Hey guys, reeeeally sick of my silver grill surround now and ive been wanting it.black since i got my vrs.. anyone got any pointers as to how i should do it, and lead me to some good priced products? I fancy that spray paint that turns into like a peel off plastic but im not sure what its called haha. Will also use the remainder of what ever i buy to do the fog light surrounds etc..

Cheers, ell

Wrap it.

Di noc carbon wrap is popular but quite expensive.

Or just use a gloss black plain vinyl. (much cheaper)

Paint will chip over time and is irreversible.

When the vinyl looks tired peel off and renew.

If you should ever want to return the car to standard

it's easily done.

Get it painted by a body shop. It's plastic and on the front of the car; destined to flake if not done properly.

I think ill go down the wrap rout, could you point me towards some fairly priced carbon wrap, grr666?

Plasti-dip is that spray stuff.

I've done mine in it and very happy with the results. Easily reversible too. :)

Plasti dip is the spray on plastic stuff you refer to. So simple to apply just carefully take apart grill. Then clean chrome portion. Three coats leaving 20 mins between then leave for a couple of hours and re assemble. Have done my octy and now the Fabia. Doesn't Chip and looks awesome. Search EBay for plasti dip spray. About £15 delivered. Enough in the can for at least two grills.

For best results also remove grill badge and replace with a new one once plasti dip has dried.

Will do mate! thanks for the pics etc too, guess i will go for the plasti dip route!

I'm going to plastidip mine soon, I did paint them but they have chipped so I will be doing the grill surround and number plate surround :)

Take your pick mate, You could go gloss, carbon, coloured or matte.

There's a 100 different types and depends what look you are after.

If I was going to do it again, (Car is back to chrome as I'm selling soon)

then I'd probably give the matte a try maybe??

If carbons your thing then look for 3m Di noc vinyl, it's what I had and moulds well

looks more authentic than some do and in my experience is very hard wearing.

Mine was on for a while through two winters and never suffered any stonechip

damage. I paid someone else to wrap mine if I'm honest.

Anybody seen those carbon fibre moulding kits? Really tempted to try it!

Looks like a Citigo badge.

See my Gallery for a better explanation. ;)

Is the front (curved) Citigo badge a better fit on the Fabia then? I've not removed mine yet but the original does look flat like the rear (flat) Citigo badge?

Im looking at wrapping my grill surround soon... does anybody have any pointers on how to remove the grill and surround from the car?

"SECCY" do some searches for the new style badges. There's different opinions. I've tried both curved (601) and flat (630). For me curved sits better.

"iRaceForPies" you'll need a T30 Torx bit and something along the lines of a "bojo blue genius" plastic tool set...or a flat screwdriver.
