Roof Racks

Featured Replies

Today we'll finally get our brand new Citigo, unfortunately there's a small fly in the ointment.

We ordered the car with roof racks but later I realized it was never added to the contract (yes, I realize we should have read it through twice :wall:). Both my wife and I remember very clearly that roof racks were part of the agreement but the dealer says he doesn't remember anything.

Anyhow, we'll buy the rails in a spare part shop, but are they easy to attach? Does the roof need preparation or can we just attach any old rails? Should we be aware of something in particular?

I have the impression that roof rails are not fit along the roof as on other cars, but that you can buy a rack that directly clamps onto the roof (as I have seen from some pictures). Thus, I suspect it to be just third party equipment, that the factory won't mount anyways (but Skoda dealers will probably sell them). I am also very interested in any information about roof racks.

Have you checked out thule.com?

It's not factory fitted. As far as I know they are clamped on to the roof and they should be easy to remove when not in use. But I'm not sure if you need a mechanic to prepare the car beforehand and whether you can use any removable rail system.

Will look at thule.com, thanks for the tip.

Thanks again for the link, cecolon. Thule.com has a great fit guide that answered a number of questions. I'm still untertain about prior preparation, though.
