Complete novice so please be patient. 02 110bhp 5dr. Is it a PD engine & does it have a DMF?

asv is a non pd engine, but i would think if it's not been taxi'd it'll be a duel mass flywheel or unless someone before you has converted it to a solid flywheel no way for me to say really :p

94k on an 02 plate. Not taxi mileage and it seems to have been well cared for. No eveidence of any replacement. If driven gently are they a reliable part or am I doomed?

well ive got a solid flywheel conversion, as it's £130 for a clutch kit, the duel mass is more prone to failure as it's got moving parts and is more expensive, compared to the solid flywheel

Big bucks i take it if both need to be replaced by a mechanic?

well i wouldn't class myself as a mechanic but i can do it, it's not really complicated just anoying removing everything in your path to get clear access

In comparison to the number of cars out there there aren't that many DMF failures. Sure, there seem to be more than for standard cars but not so that I would be overly worried - remember, most people talk about the problems they have on forums rather than what's working on their car. If it needs done then it needs done down the line then it needs done but don't stress over something that hasn't happened as chances are, it won't!

I'm certainly not going to be driving it hard. Cars last longer & cost less if you're gentle.
