Any easier to remove struts and springs that are already lowered?

Featured Replies

Will be taking off my OE struts and Eibach -25mm springs to fit coilovers. I know a lot of people have problems with the Nearside because the standard springs need to be compressed in order to get enough clearance above the drive shaft to pull the hub off the damper. Being that mine are already 25mm shorter should I be able to avoid this issue? Just hoping to avoid buying spring compressors as I'll be fitting new top mounts anyway.

Will be easier but you'll still need compressors for the fronts.

Damn you and thank you in equal measures! Don't suppose you fancy fitting them Kenny? Glasgow's not far from Perth ;)

When you do it, unbolt the ball joint and track rod on the nearside, gives you more room to play with and makes it a whole lot easier :)

Could do them next Saturday if you brought your car to my work?

Aye? Might well be able to do that. I'm pretty confident about fitting them anyway but I hear it's easier with 2sets of hands and it would save me buying a couple of the tools. How many beer tokens would this helpful service cost :)

No charge, just give where the struts go into the hub carriers a good spray with release oil during the week. don't worry about bringing tools.

What a gent, will try and pick up some release agent and fire it on throughout the week. I'll need to give you something by way of thanks though. Are you a whiskey man? Or more of a beer man!
