fixed costs

Why is the first 3 years servicing always much dearer .

the oil service on mine after 3 years is £120 so why was the first one £220 just wondering?

also I have contacted shark to see if he can do a re-map for mine but designed specically for fuel consumption as mine is dismal

Always been a bug bear of mine this issue, they say its because they do far more checks than a normal service, my argument is if there was something wrong, a) i would notice it and book it in whilst under warranty, and B) why should i pay them extra to check things that are covered under warranty that they would have to replace anyway, and after 3 yrs on a service it gets cheaper but the sheet of paper you get with the check list ticked... is exactly the same.... go figure... money for old rope.....

it's cheaper after 3 years to attract business that would of gone to an independent garage as once the warranty runs out people are less keen on paying for dealer servicing prices

I think they should offer packages like bmw my brother got a new 635d and he paid I think about 299 ponds for 3 years servicing

You can use an independent while in warranty provided it's a VAT registered one (and maybe have to use OEM parts, but not sure of that).

That's right. As long as the parts and servicing are to the book then the warranty stands. You do miss out on software updates and minor recalls.

In the first 3yr there isn't much that gets done anyway. If you're variable then it's basically one oil change.
