New Vrs owner with some questions :)

Featured Replies

Hi all, picked up my new VRS on Friday there, its exactly a year old today..Happy BIrthday  Anyway, well impressed and been cruising the forum for a couple of days trying to learn as much as possible. However i still have a few questions!

1. WTF is maxidot!!??

2. any one got any suggestions/recomendations of a good accessory and oem type trim suppliers, i've been looking at this site. Planning getting the rs+ kit and a few more bits from them, unless theres a better supplier? http://www.superskoda.com/octavia-ii/

3. What is this VCDS i see folk refer to re. changing my km/h to mp/h and fitting bluetooth????

Im sure i will have plenty more questions, but these shall suffice for now :giggle:

1. Maxidot is a computer allowing you to change settings the easiest way to see if you have it is when you open a car door does it show you which one is open?

2. A lot of people use the website.

3. Vcds is a software and cable you plug into car to adjust various settings it costs about £230

And I have Oem Bluetooth retrofitted and didn't need coded it just worked as plugnplay

Cheers mike thats spot on. My car shows a wee picture when the doors are open so it has maxidot? Whats the advantages of it then? Also, thats good to know about the bluetooth, seems a relatively easy job then :)

With maxidot you can change quite a lot of the comfort settings .how many press of the unlock button to unlock all doors, if you want the alarm to chirp when lock or unlock etc.The search function on here is pretty hopeless .just Google maxidot followed by Briskoda and it will bring up all the topics on it.

Haha ye cheers bluevrs2, the search is pretty... :wall: LOL ye seems i have the maxidot then

Welcome Mr McDade are you a friend of Jack Jarvis? In case you didn't know how to get into using your maxidot there is a rocker switch on the end of the wiper stalk which you use to scroll through the screens on it (average MPG, speed, range etc...) if you hold down one of the buttons on it while key is in on position and you are stationary you can get into the settings there is a button on underside of the same stalk to select that is highlighted to proceed to the next menu in turn etc Some handy wee things in there to play with.

If you are not up for splashing out on the VCDS cable there is a list of members here with one who are willing to help us less fortunate for little or no reward (cheers again magic62).

Superskoda has a good selection of bits by far the best selection they are not cheap unfortunately and delivery has been known in some cases to take a while, some reports on here of members buying the same items but getting the same thing of varying quality of finish. I would recommend OEM mud flaps personally £40 ish all in for 4 from Skoda and a remap of course :D

BTW did you get a petrol VRS or a proper one?

What colour of vrs did you get ? There are a few out my way now that I pass quite often. I'm in erskine

LOL, you funny. Petrol is the one true version of the vRS and you know it.

My '07 vRS has a trip computer with quite a lot of information available, including doors, boot & hood open or closed but I don't think it's a Maxidot.

How can I tell, & was Maxidot available in 2007?

TIA, DC.

Here on this page is an overview of the different dash layouts.

First two are with maxidot (pre fl and fl) and the last one with just the smaller computer.

And yes, my old and beloved VRS from 11-2006 had maxidot.

Thank you. kind sir......

I must have Maxidot 'cos it's the same as the 1st photo shown on your link.

I have the original owners manual so I'll have to reread the trip computer section!

I'm still enjoying my car, it's not easy to replace, maybe I should keep it until the new Octavia 3 is available.

Thanks again, David C.
