Off to Shark Performance for a mid life treat!

I figure, the car has been so good to me in the two and a half years Ive owned her that she deserves a treat so I've let her go off and spend the week with the nice guys at Shark Performance. Apparently Ben is planning to give her a new lease of life... im guessing something like a week at a Spa?! :giggle: Who knows. Anyway, he's confident he is going to rejuvinate her and give her a new lease of life!

You'll be able to see any changes in my Project Journal for the car, here:

Hi

Had a look at your full report on the link - my kinda Yeti! I'm looking at having the 110CR remapped (Stage 1) and uprated brakes completed by Shark in the near future. Sorry to be cheeky, but what sort of money will this set me back, all in?

Regards

Chubbs

Hi Chubbs, give Shark Performance a call (01623 332233) as they have a number of options on the brake front. TBH - my 312mm VRS disks and Ferodo DS2500 pads that I recently fitted would be more than man enough with the power output you'd be looking at but they can offer OE upgrades as well as serious hardware from AP Racing etc. :)

Have to say that if it were a choice of either our Yeti or me having a mid-life treat, the Yeti would still be parked on the drive

I went to see these guys to discuss some VCDS changes.

Their enthusiasm has no bounds. I was impressed. I think their blood group is full synthetic engine oil.

And they got back to when promised....a rare thing these days

They can code my towbar electrics so I just need to get the people who should have coded it to pay!

Mind you I not going to lose sleep over £36.....but its the principle!

I've been dealing with tuning firms for nearly 15 years and these guys are probably the best all rounders. Knowledgable, sincere, efficient and also, reasonably priced! They always get back to me when promised and if they don't then i get a quick call to say 'we haven't forgotten you, we are still just waiting for....' and Mark, their mechanic seemed exceptionally good when I met him for the first time on Monday - he really took pride in working on my car and has 22 years of experience in a similar role high up within the Mercedes Benz group of local dealerships. So nice to see someone working on your car that seems to treat it like their own :-)

There was me thinking all they really concentrated on was remaps and that Ben was the only one there... So yes, I certainly recommend them thoroughly, the whole team :-)

Is it just me or is there something amiss with their site.? I tried to get some details from the site of what they could do with the Yeti along with some prices. When I clicked on Yeti on their site though it asked the variant but there's no where to enter the variant!

Probably because this is the first they have had a proper chance to play with? It's not exactly known as a model for aftermarket tuning so it's actually not on a lot of the applications list for products either but if you assume anything (within reason) for the Golf R, Audi S3 should fit, you probably won't be too far from fact. :-)

Picking the car up late this afternoon, looking forward to the long drive home. :-)

Is this the one that has been 'slightly' breathed on on shown on Shark Performance FB page? May need a clean pair of undies :giggle:

Yes, its all been fully detailed in my project journal on here throughout. :) In the wet last night, it had no issue putting the power down to be honest. If you are silly and havent got the best tyres in place (ie mine, currently!) it will spin the four wheels up under hard accelerating but driven properly, no new Y fronts required.

I think its fair to say we are both very happy with breaking the 300bhp and 300lb/ft torque with such low boost. It really is a very impressive piece of kit now  and still looks totally standard from outside. :bandit:

Out of interest, what did it do to your insurance?

Added a good chunk but not got long to go before I switch to a specialist so will hopefully be lower then. :) Having insured modified cars since I was 21 things are certainly more affordable now Im old!
