How do you clean your Octavia?

Featured Replies

Sounds almost feasible this. By setting the airflow to the footwell doeas this shut the vents pointing towardas the window? Think i may try this as it does suffer bad from condensation. The boot window is the worst but i just put this down to having a dog and therefore having wet muckyness in the boot. Saying that the beemer didnt suffer as badly. Not really a big issue but i bet it will be when the temperatures drop below freezing as this condensation will freeze to the inside of the window i would imagine. Yikes.

It does work. Yes the internal flaps will direct any air away from the windows, when the airflow is set to the footwells.

If you've got boot window condensation, I'd check the boot seal and also possibly check that the inside of the tailgate is dry and that you haven't got an issue with the rear wash wipe leaking. Although your car is quite new; maybe mention this to the dealer and get them to check?

Some of the best car care manufactures make and sell sponges to detailers. I agree about the dirty or sponges that have been dropped. As ling as its rinced between each panel the same as you would with a wash mitt.

Which car care manufacturers are we talking about here?

If you're going to hand wash your car, use a wash mitt. It's simple.

What you miss above is what happens when you try to remove dirt from the car with the sponge. It sits on the sponge surface and can't go anywhere else as you're applying pressure at the same time. So what you do is move debris around the panel with the sponge, causing damage and scratches. With a wash mitt the dirt is able to collect at the bottom of the pile.

Zymol are one of the best car care manufactures around. They do the silicone free sponge. I'm pritty sure they would sell anything that's harmful to your cars paint. There is still the same risks with a mitt pulling grit along the surface. It doesn't matter how carefully you are you would have to be doing a touch less wash for absolute no risk of pulling grit across the surface

I've successfully kept two cars virtually swirl free with a zymol sponge, exactly the same results from when I used a lambswool mitt.

Fair enough, we'll leave it there then.

The risks aren't the same at all, as the inherent way a wash mitt works is safer to the paint.
