Audi/BMW Black Exhaust tips

Featured Replies

I dont know if anyone else has noticed but after attending Goodwood Festival of Speed i noticed that Audi with there RS4, TTRS, RS3 and BMW with the new M3 were putting black exhaust tips on them. I have heard it is to keep the tips cooler and produce a better sound (unsure of its truthness).

What I am wondering is, has anyone thought of doing it themselves to the octavia vRS or have already done it?

I am considering it as I have black wheels, smoked front lights and tinted windows. Audi are selling the A4 B8 exhaust tips (presume same as ours) already done black which I also presume they are anodized or powder coated to withstand the heat.

I believe they actually keep the tip k£wl£r and the sound of wallets opening further is better to the salesmen.

They're grasping for straws if they feels they have to colour the ends of the feckin exhaust. Shocked they don't offer to anodise them in various colours for £$££$£

Im very tempted to try it

Miltek offer this on the golf mk6 systems, just for your info.

I had black tips on my TT-RS, no difference to the silver ones in terms of keeping cool etc.... and it was part of the sports exhaust package.

I fancy it, just for looks and to be different rather than for any performance reason haha

Would look good on a black line, if it matched with the black wheels IMHO.

Well a blackline is just sane as any other vrs with black wheels

My 11 year old Audi has black tips, and I am going for Chrome in the near future. All it means is that Audi can make something cheaper than the chrome tips, and charge a premium and hence make a bigger profit per car.

Black tips says cheap cost cutting to me, hence wanting to have chrome on my 3.7 A8 which the S8 has as standard.

But i wont be buying audi ones, ill be having mine done, cant see anodised exhaust tips been cheaper than chromed ones

If you have a diesel no need to buy the black tips, just don't wash the chrome ones ;)

I actually sprayed the tips of my new Milltek black before fitting yesterday with matt black very high temperature paint as my car is black on black and didn't want chrome exhaust spoiling the theme.
