Hey guys,

I pick up my new Fabia vRS this Friday.

I'm currently driving a Renaultsport clio 172 which "handles like a go kart", always sticks to the road.

Now I'm aware the standard Fabia has quite small brakes, and softer suspension.

This is fine as its going to be my daily driver.

However after reading one of the modification threads, I see there are plenty of chassis mods that could transform the handling.

I really like the look of the Tarox big brake kit, but at 1200 that's a fair bit lol.

As to suspension who offers a better set up?

Where do I stand when it comes to warrantee if I have these parts changed, and would they still cover the car if I have the suppling skoda garage fit them?

I find the brakes okay, could be better and I can understand why people who do track days want to uprate them but for road driving I'm not sure they need so much thrown at them, but I suppose it depends how you drive.

Personally I would look to making the car go round corners better first (RARB and or springs), Skoda do an uprated spring set from Eibachs.

Also remember to inform your insurance company as any mods (even if they make the car safer) could (no doubt would) change the premium they charge.

the std brakes are woeful. I have the tarox BBK above, and its great, bt i do alot of trackdays so i use them to their full potential. If your not planning on trackdays then a kit like that will be a waste of money imo.

A much cheaper option would be to use the 312mm discs/calipers/carriers from a Mk4 golf Anniversary/Mk1 Octavia vRS. that will be a substantial improvement in braking performance.

Alternatively if you fancy something larger again, but still OEM, then look into the Mk4 golf R32 323mm twin pot brakes.

Ebay or breaker yards will throw up plenty of bargains for you.

Plus with the Mk4 312 or 323mm r32 brakes they look OEM as well, so dont shout "modified" any where near as much as the likes of tarox brakes do.

Suspension wise, ive tried KW on multiple cars, and i always find them crashy.

I do a fair few trackdays, but would still prefer a normal spring 7 damper upgrade to coilovers. The only reason i was going coilovers on mine is I hada good deal on the VWR/AST setup. TBH i was pretty impressed with the VWR springs, they made a great improvment to the handling, look and arent crashy at all.

My favourite mods so far are the poly bushes and brakes tbh. Plus with the Poly bushes supplied/fitted as part of a group buy for less than £280, it was a bargain.

As for warranty. You would lose any warranty on the brakes, but bear in mind, discs and pads are consumables anyway so not covered by warranty, and the likelihood of brakes not working is slim if they are installed by a professional, so IMO, its not an issue to lose your warranty on the brakes.

The same goes for suspension, you will lose the warranty on any thing suspension related. But buy a decent suspension setup from a renowned company and you will have their manufacturers warranty anyway.
