Hope I'm posting this in the right place - I'm a bit of a newbie ;-)

I've got an intermittent fault with the speaker in the drivers door of my '09 Octavia VRS. Basically whenever there's been a fair bit of rain (e.g 50 weeks of the year!) that speaker becomes horribly distorted. I've mentioned it to the dealer when it was in for a service but they couldn't find any fault - of course it wasn't bloody raining that day!

Has anyone else come across a problem like this, or have any ideas on exactly what the cause is/how to fix it? I really love my car and I want to make it better!

Yes, the standard speakers do my cracker in by intermittently distorting the bass.

My driver’s door speaker does not work at all these days. On my old A4 i had the same problem; it was a cable running from the car to the door card, through the rubber section between the hinges that had broken, a simple connector and the problem was fixed.

Might be the same problem with my octavia, i have just not had time to look yet, but that’s where i would start.

Thanks havoc - I hadn't actually considered the cables at the door joint so I'll check it out. To be honest I'd rather mine didn't work at all than make the racket it is at the moment - had to resort to putting the fade over to the passenger side!
