Aftermarket Headlamp Bulbs.

Featured Replies

Whats the best aftermarket bulbs to fit and what power should they be.

I have the Ring high power extreme or something they are called, overall, they give a little bit more light but not blinding to oncoming people, overall, not a bad upgrade.

HIDs none canbus 4300

Osram nightbreakers for me. Don't want to get a ticket for fitting a non filament bulb in a lamp designated for said fitment (which is what makes aftermarket HID's illegal).

Avoid the 100W variants. They're illegal and will probably end up melting your wiring and the plastic headlamp lenses.

+1 for the Osram Nightbreakers

I would stick to the newest Osram night breakers, I thought I would try a set of ring ultimate for my high beam but they don't spread evenly and are not as crisp and white as night breakers

IIRC PIAA made a set of approved 100w bulbs, would probably still melt the wiring though.

I have Osram night breakers in my bike, apart from the colour looking better I haven't noticed any real improvement in visibility.

I run 55w 5000k HID in the skoda which are like day and night compared to halogen. I would put HID in the bike but due to the setup every time you accelerate the front end lifts a little - this would practically blind everyone so I stick with the night breakers. don't expect and real improvement though apart from the colour.

I've had Philips (80&90%), osram (50&100%) and Ring (100&120%). Currently on ring 120% as they were on offer at motorworld. The 50% have the best balance between brightness and lifespan in my experience though.
