Stupid low without bags

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I'm stuck as what to do, I currently have weitec coilovers but they just wont go low enough on the rears the adjuster for the spring is turned all the way to the bottom. Anything you can suggest to get it lower maybe using different springs or getting shorter springs made maybe. I need it lower by about 2" obviously I would be in the realms of getting shorter struts but I would cross that bridge if needed, Obviously I don't want to bag it as seems stupid just to bag the rears.

Ill swop you my jom plus rear springs as i have the oppersite problem

Remove the adjuster ?

Thats what I though about doing but surely the adjuster is also there to stop the spring sliding around on the tube?

They wont fit without adjusters cups on

ive got a spare set of jom rear lowered springs and normal springs i'll check for you if you can do without the adjuster, and get back to you as i've still got my old back axle aswell

U can take the rear adjuster out. Ive done it on my mk4 golf and its fine

well there you are, the adjusters are just to stop the springs jumping out when the back is jacked up

Yeah you can take the adjusters out. Just make sure you get some decent wire and/or cable ties to ensure that the springs don't go far.

Taking the adjusters out just sounds a sketchy as cutting the springs! Only worry is that the dampers are riding pretty much on the bump stop already so surely if i take the adjuster out it could cause the damper issues as it would be to low?

Might just have to get a set of jom's just for the back.

Yeah, riding the bump stops is bad, mmmkay? Read my other post about springs vs coilies and the effect of cutting down bump stops for more infos.

Talking of bump stops, you know anyone that does shorter ones because I can only find mk3 ones and obviously I don't want to start cutting them up!

I do believe the Leon Cupra had shorter bump stops iirc... I'm sure someone with ETKA will be able to point me in the right direction with that.
