fuel problem

Featured Replies

This is a bit of a pain

my vrs 1.8t 2001 octavia when the car has under 1/4 of tank of petrol in it it will start and run but will stall when your driving along and when you try to restart it will not start just turns over like no fuel if you bump it will take 100m or more before it starts then it will be ok for 1 mile then it stall again.

today it run fine up to 1/4 tank then just stalled then over the next 3 miles it stalled out 6 times

i put £10 of petrol in it (147.9l)i just had the fuel pump out to checked the tank and there is about 4in of fuel in the tank no water or dirt in the bottom

fuel pump is clean

looks like a gfs or euro car pump as no numbers on the unit

changed plugs coils a fuel filter maf

drive fine till it gets to the 1/4 on guage then it starts playing up again if it stalls it will not start for the same amount of time each time

turn it off and back on when driving will not start then will just restart

stop and turn it over will not start

wait 4-8 seconds will start first time drive 500m or more then cuts out

i think its a relay getting no codes when it stalls

pump was changed because dealer had the car do this to them 2 months ago then been sat on forecourt for sale

i always though it was down on power

can you put the fuel lines on the wrong way on the pump?.had it before on a scirocco go up hill when the tank was low would cut out

runs fine if you dont go under 1/4 of a tank ive done over 3k of driving in it and no stalling when over 1/4 tank

are you sure the indicator is correct? when looks 1/4 tank ,you must have like 17l of petrol.

You must be sure that the gauge indicates correct first of all

are the fuel pumps the in all the 20vt cars ie golf a3 etc

going to try getting a 2secondhand one from the scrappy

to see if the new pump is bad one

Hate to say this but drop the tank and either clean it out properly or replace it sounds like something in the tank.
