I recently had the EML come on, and the code was P1296, I changed the CTS for a original green one from Skoda, at £40 , but temeperature still is below 70 on the dial at motorway speeds and the EML is back on..could the thermostat be at fault? Any replies r appreciated

That code usually means that either the sensor or thermostat is faulty. Given that you've replaced the sensor, the most likely cause is the thermostat.

Thanks for the replies How much would the labour cost be to change the thermostat at a local garage..?
