Climate control vRS

Featured Replies

Having just had a new condenser fitted a few months ago I would like to do my best to keep it working 100%.

It there anything I need to do over the winter months ?

Eg running with it on every week or so?

Thanks in advance

Leave it on all the time. My 8 month old car has never had it switched off.

As has been discussed before the system draws very little power and will therefore not harm fuel consumption too greatly.

I find AC more useful in the winter as it removes the moisture from the air keeping the car dry, especially useful when you get in with wet clothes and shoes. Very swift clearing of a misted screen in the mornings and no more steamed up windows at any time during travel.

The only downside with Auto Climate Control is the lack of a constant stream of warm air to the feet on especially cold days if the system is left on auto. Not a huge downside but needs a small change of dash settings rather than the usual set and forget.

Correct me if I'm wrong but mine doesn't have an A/C switch, the ac only comes on when set to "low"

So when the heater is set to say 20 is the A/C running?

The A/C is running all the time that the Climate Control is on.

A/C doesn't just cool the air, as mentioned above it removes moisture from warm air too.

So in other words the A/C is working at 'Lo', 'Hi' and all temperatures in-between.

The only way to turn off the A/C is to press the 'ECON' button.

It also doesn't work at temperatures below 4 degrees celcius (outside temperature).

The work's scout doesn't have an AC button but an econ button. AFAIK, with econ engaged the AC is off. Switch off econ and you have Aircon.

Don't know if your vRS might be the same.

Sarge.

Econ doesn't even switch it off. It still circulates to keep seals lubricated etc. It's just a light load setting. Makes feck all difference imho and I'd just leave it on if I was you.
