Rev's drop to 0 then bounce back up?

Okay, so I was driving to my mates this evening going about 60ish then all of a sudden my rev counter went to 0 you could hear the engine stall maybe for like 1 second then straight back up to 3k and all was good.

Has anyone had this problem or know what this could be? I'm quite puzzled

It's a 1.4 16v if that helps
