Featured Replies

Hi to expert,

I own Fabia 2001, 1.4 Manual petrol. I have a question to ask  ,

whether the car is timing belt tooth or timing chains?

thanks,

Hello.

I'm sure someone will be around to answer.

BTW, Noticed you waited 7 months before posting  SHY ? or only just got a comment / question.

If its a 1.4 MPi then the timing chain is at the bottom on the engine on the left hand side as you look at it from the front.

Hi expert,

Thanks for the advice ;).

I have been busy for the last 7 months and definitely this forum is the best.

thanks,

Can anyone explain how the timing chain works on a 1.4MPI. I thought timing chains were like cam belts that circle the crank and cam shafts. what does a timing chain drive if not a camshaft. My MPI hasn't got the typical pulley cover on side of the engine which made me think it was pushrod.

chain replaces belt is all, more reliable i think

chain replaces belt is all, more reliable i think

This is correct, but not as refined and is more expensive to replace. Also get really noisy with age.
