Selling a private numberplate

Featured Replies

evening all,

ive just sold my private numberplate via ebay this was the one that came with my octavia when i bought it and has been on retention for 5months.

just checking out the retention form now and it does show a nominee field but theres no place to put an address in just a name field? i know the new buyer must pay an assignment fee of £25 (which i made him aware of) but other than signing the form theres nothing else i have to do now?

any help or advice much appreciated!

cheers

Stu

Your right, no address box, I hadn'y noticed this on my retention form.

However you can only complete the information asked for. As the form has to be sent or taken to the DVLA along with the V5 of the vehicle the number is to be assigned to I can only assume that is all the information the DVLA need - plus £25.

Instructions on the back of the form are fairly self explanatory.

They only need the name of the nominee, which must match the name on the V5c of the car the plate will be put on.

So when you send the form off make sure the buyer gives you the right info with ALL names shown on his V5c.
