Engine for 2014 Fabia vRS ?

Featured Replies

Just been looking at some pictures and press release for the 2013 Seat Leon. One bit about the engine line up caught my eye - "The pinnacle of the TSI engine range will be a 1.8, producing 180ps and 250Nm. This engine will join the line-up later in 2013."

So same outputs as the current Fabia vRS. Would they really manufacture two petrol engines with exactly the same power and torque ?.

Think I also read this engine will have both direct and manifold injection, in a bid to keep the inlet valves free from carbon build up.

never heard of that engine... but i have heard rumours the 1.4 twin charger will be dropped, so maybe its the successor!

we were in the skoda factory in sept, they showed us where the new fabia will be built, but refused to give us any specs! ol...

It looks like the engine is going to continue on for a bit with the GTi, A1, Cupra & vRS in the revised 2013 form.

By 2014 i would imagine any Fabia MK 3 would be getting the early versions of Euro 6 emission engines.

It is hard to imagine them having more C.C.'s as other cars engines get smaller.

Isnt that just the current Audi unit?! I thought it was going to be used in the Leon, currently already in the A3 - figures are the same anyway.

I thought I remembered reading rumours of a turbo only 1.6 replacing the oil drinking twin charged lump but I may be wrong. Im liking the idea of the new Fabia currently, the deal breaker for me would be if it shipped with that twin charged 1400cc lump still so Im keeping a close eye on things. :)

There are strong rumours of the 1.6 Turbo engine which is supposed to replace the 1.4 twin charged unit. I heard these rumours ages ago when attending a trade seminar in 'urop'. Since then others on here have posted articles about it and it is beyond rumor now from what I know. I believe it will produce 160ps to start with but there will be a 200ps version also. It uses the newish.. variable nozzle tech on the turbo. Can't wait to see it.

Wouldn't be suprised at 200bhp and a 1.6

The new Clio, Fiesta ST, Peugeot 205 GTi are all set to have a 1.6l 200bhp turbo charged engines. I wouldn't put it passed the newest citreon hot hatch along with whatever the Japs can do with there line up.

Can't they do something clever, like homologation of the S2000 rally car? Was there a S1600 version?

Reverse engineer (de-tune) those engines and away you go.

I have no idea what VAG products use these days to even know if there are new engines in the pipeline - the old GTI/TT engines were the 1.8 TFSI weren't they? The current GTI has a 2.0 engine does it not? Now available in about 6 states of tune up to to the Golf R (260 bhp?).

Or a clever union (a la Jaguar/Williams) to use the aborted F1 1.6 4 cyl Turbo engine...

The 1.6 Turbo used by BMW/Mini/PSA is the same one isn't it? I guess others jump on the band wagon, but lines of development often follow a similar path to meet emissions regs etc, hence everyone goes similar ways.

New stuff is the 1.0 3 cyl turbo engines being bought in - Ford and VAG (Citigo?) - reminds me of the Diahatsu Charade GTti!!

A 3 cylinder turbo'd engine that revs to 16,000 rpm like a motor bike. Just give it a reverse gear... That would be sweet haha!

Whatever they do it will have to have green credentials or CO2 low emissions I thought that was why the 1.4 twin charge engine was made.

Apprently the new golf R will have a 5.1 litre engine with 390hp....hard to belive but thats what my dads boss (owns a vw dealership) got told at a meeting about the new golf

Would love to see it in a fabia but cant see it happening

Lol ok that one made me smile! :-)

If a golf had an engine that size the price tag on the car would be HUGE, not forgetting people trying to insure one may aswel go out and buy an Aston Martin or a Porsche turbo for the money they'd be forking out.

Yeah i found ot pretty ridicoulse too....how would it even fit?

But my dad seems pretty sure thats what his boss told him after he came back from the meeting..... Only time will tell i guess

I don't think there's any need to wait for the true answer on that one... ;-)

5.1L golf r...9.2L audi r8...

I saw an article a month or two back where the Ford boffins said they could get the 1.0l turbo lump currently in the Focus to produce an eye watering 177bhp !!!
