Rusty tailgate

Featured Replies

My Octavia tailgate is rusty,I have it painted by Brooklands of Lincoln under waranty twice (badly)via Horton's Skoda dealership across the road. Once in 2008 and again in 2011. The rust has reappeared and now they tell me it is not covered by the waranty ! I have been advised by the warranty person at Horton's Chris Chester to Hammerite the offending area.....any comments please.

If you read my thread about door locks & warranty/dealer issues, although I haven't named the chap or the dealer I'm having issues with, it appears that you have!

Sales of Goods Act applies here.

1st stop is Skoda UK

2nd stop is CAB and Trading Standards

3rd Stop is small claims court.

What reason are they saying it isn't under warranty when the car comes with a 12 year anti corrosion warranty?

No doubt they'll wheel out the rust Vs corrosion argument, seems pretty clear cut here with the previous fixes.

I have been told by Hortons that Skoda say it does not fall within the category of "Corrosion from within"....Thanks for your advice, I have e mailed Skoda UK this morning and await their reply.

Speak to supplying dealer, only with them can you claim under SOGA.

Not uncommon unfortunately
