Koni Lowering Springs for TDI

Nobody then?

Anyone got any recommendations?

Don't want the car any lower than it is now though or spend more than the cost of a pair of new vRS springs.

Honestly?

If you're thinking of lowering at all there's no point going springs when you can get cheap coilovers with fresh struts for not much more which are infinitely better on what is effectively at least a 6 year old car if not older. The struts will be tired either way you're looking at it, and springs by themselves will only make it more noticeable.

To be fair, even if you're not thinking of lowering specifically - for the cost and hassle of spring replacement (trust me i've done it), you could have bought cheap coilovers with aforementioned fresh struts and uprated shock capability and just replaced them wound all the way up quicker, and easier than swapping springs.

Just a thought.

The only issue comes from obviously declaring mods on your insurance. If you're not with a mod friendly insurer, lowering springs also have to be declared so it is a pointless difference. I have assumed however that as you're considering lowering springs that you are prepared to declare anyway so you may as well go coilies.

I renewed all of the shocks and fitted Bilstein sport versions and used vRS springs at the same time and they have been just fine for the last two and a half years.

Just looking for alternatives to buying more vRS rear springs or re-fitting the standard TDI springs. I suppose I could just post a wanted add for another set of used vRS ones from another member who has upgraded or is breaking a whole car.

Fair point, well made. Didn't realise you'd already replaced the shocks already.

In that case, it's either pick up some more VRS springs from a member that has gone to coilies or pick up some uprated springs. Eibachs would be a spring upgrade of choice but i'm sure that Koni's will be pretty much a likeness.

fitting old springs is pointess, they have a tendancy to break anyway the vrs springs so not a good idea imo. Plus if you have a diesel the vrs springs are not rated for their weight, so thats not a good idea either. Think eibach do a spring for the diesel, that would be the best bet, or someone like h&r/koni if they do them.

As mentioned something like the Eibach Pros or H&R springs are the best options.

Let me know if you need any prices or info.

I think that the difference is only about 50kg and as I said having matched them with new shocks and the correct bump stops I have found them to be absolutely fine for my requirements for over 2 years even with my massively heavy TDI lump

I just wanted other options rather than another set of used vRS ones for the reason you mentioned which is that they break. I just don't want the car any lower than it is now. Standard vRS ride height is just fine for me, but I am not quite sure how much lower than the standard TDI that is. Progressive rate springs would be my prefered choice, but I need to check the drop from standard to mine.

Damian,

Thanks. If you are able to offer any guidance on ride height, it would be appreciated, but I think I need to find a standard Elegance and get a tape measure.

Had 2 sets of eibach springs on previous volvos and wouldnt blink at spending extra on them to cheaper brands.

Thinking about ditching my coilies and putting knoi shocks and h&r springs on my vrs only because eibach dont do springs for vrs
