Weird 'ooo' noise from fabia vrs

Featured Replies

Hello all... Ive had this issue for quite some time now but never really thought much of it as it comes and goes but basically sometimes while driving when I steer slightly to the right I get this weird wooooooo noise... It's not a screeching noise but rather a medium high pitched noise... The only way to best describe it is if you (being a man) try to do it in a high pitch, there's only such a high frequency you can reach lol... Any ideas

Haha trev, I assure you the noise is coming from the car not me... Lol

Powerd steering pump, my old fabia used to do it when going on full lock. Never caused a problem so never looked into it.

Thanks mate... Are there any other problems to look out for that shows that the power steering pump is on its way out?

Lights can start going dim, this is due to low battery voltage which can cause problems with the powerd steering.

also you might find the steering will go heavy for a second every now and then.

The fabias have sevral faults with powerd steering most are cheap easy fix's.

Could be wheel bearing on way out.

Does it happen when you turn left?

When you steer right the weight is shifted onto passengers side of car, so when you turn left the weight is shifted to the drivers side.

If its wheel bearing you should be able to get noise to go away when shifting weight onto drivers side.

Ye mate this does happen... When performing a turn in the road the headlights do seem to flicker, and the steering does get a bit heavy now and then... what fix would you recommend?

I would say rear wheel bearing.

Get it on a ramp and see if you have any play in either wheel

does it happen when you put the wheel on full lock when stationary, or is it only when moving? If it's only when moving, more than likely a bearing or possibly a drop link.

Could the noise be coming from the brake pads. Mine does similar when the brakes are really hot and i am driving slowly around corners. The noise comes and goes. The fix for this is usually to replace the brake fluid.

You sure you haven't got that chap from the carry on movies in your boot!?! Ooooh matron!!!
