First Service, 1.2tsi

Featured Replies

Just had the 1st 12month service done, (variable servicing)

Although I've not had any trouble with it they told me there is a 'Field upgrade' and guess what? It's that turbo shim saga again. They have fitted this and reprogramed the computer with an updated version.

Can't say if I can tell any difference,

I have yeti 1.2 TSI as well. Bought it at Porshe Interauto in Croatia (where I live). At first they told me there are no turbine problems with yeti 2012 and no need to warry. But five months later (during free of charge check out) they've done the same as you said. Now I have a plate embeded on turbine with software updated. And the first explanation was naive - that this update was a gift from Skoda factory to it's customers. Second explanation, off the record, was that Skoda had a lot of expenses due to turbine failures and this way they want to ensure themself. So, who knows what's next.

My car is on variable servicing but I am thinking of getting it serviced next week at its 12 months period.I was quoted £88-00 for the oil change service what did you pay?.I have had a shim addition/software upgrade done are you saying there another upgrade to be carried out as well?.

Anyone know when the "upgrade" was included in original build?

Variable servicing for 3years or 30k miles whichever soonest, Cost nothing, It was a free package if took out any finance which I was doing anyway.

Don't forget you are paying for garage facilities, labour and the mechanics opinion for your vehicle's reliability, so it sounds expensive when you think its just for oil but its about the going rate for a main dealer.

Even if you intend to use variable servicing I'd still get the first done at one year/10k miles.

Up to that point it's a new engine so an engine oil change is sensible IMO.

Mine is 2012, so I guess this one is just about to come - we shall wait on yeti 2013.

Just been into the Skoda garage to book the oil change service next and was told 'if the service indicator says the car is not due until next Feb' leave the service until then'.Fair enough I suppose.

Variable service refers to variable mileage and should be done every 12months. I have a service package which is 3 services in 3 years so if I left it I would lose out.

If you do higher mileage (more than 12k annual) then the fixed service would be better.

Fixed service is 12 months/10000 miles which ever comes first.Variable is what the car status readout on the MFD tells you.

FYI i've just had the first service (variable) at 8months 18,500 miles. if I had been on fixed it would have been nearly service 2

18.5k miles in 8 months thats some going,I only do 4000 per year!.

Variable servicing is based totally on useage, so mileage can be variable. Time, as in 12 monthly, does not come into it. you get the car serviced when IT tells you.
