Decat and Emissions on fabia 1.9tdi

Featured Replies

Hello if you remove all cats from fabia vrs and go for a turbo back system will the car pass emissions come MOT time?

There is no emissions test on diesels

Why do they cat them then surely they're more efficient without them also what gains can be had by removing them"any idea's"

Faster turbo spool

To be honest i dont really know why they wouldnt do a seperate emissions test for diesels as they produce gases differently. I am not complaining though as mine will have no cat.

Heres a good little link for legal side

It has been said to map a decat in as it spools up the turbo alot quicker and could over spool and cause damage.

The n75 should have some control of the overboost so I wouldn't expect it to be too bad really judging by my previous logging etc.

Anyone actually heard of someone blowing a turbo due to the slight increase in over boost decatting a 1.9tdi?

Maybe I'm wrong lol

Nope not since i have been about these engines (not that long really) just used to read alot about it, proberly just a precaution.

I read ages ago someone at jabba sport noticed some overboosting with a incorrect map for a decat.

Thanks folks so a re- map without decat should more or less provide the same power ,which is why I was asking.

A remap without a decat should be the same power as what?

I read ages ago someone at jabba sport noticed some overboosting with a incorrect map for a decat.

Quite likely, can't see it producing dangerous levels of over boost though as the n75 in the vac block should pull boost levels back once it begins to notice the spike.

Because the cat makes the air we breathe cleaner, as well as getting rid of various posionous to human emissions (as I understand them, anyway). And I guess, the biggest reason why (as not having them would make cars cheaper to make): law.

I was a doubter but having done some reading, it seems that even "simple" diesel cats do a lot of good removing crud from ait we'd otherwise have to breathe. I think I'd consider the sportcat before the decat on that basis. If only they weren't so expensive!
