My 2005, 81000miles Octy 2 1.9tdi PD has developed an engine clunking sound..

I can't hear this when driving but listening to the engine when standing in front of the car I get an intermittent loud clunk every 10seconds or so. However sometimes it is there and sometimes not.

Any idea's please....

My current line of thought is DMF springs weakening?...or is it alternator clutch pulley?

Your thoughts please....
