Having read lots of winter tyre reviews Ive come to the conclusion that these are probably the best at a medium price point.

Has anyone on here got any experience of them? All opinions welcome.

Fitted a set of them to SWMBO’s TT a couple of weeks ago, I have previously used WR G2’s and was impressed with them (much better than my Bridgestone Blizzaks) but IMO the A3’s are even better than the G2’s, buy them… you will not be disappointed!

Thank you, thats reassuring to know. Most for the reviews say that the ride and the grip are very good, always nice to hear it from someone you know of with real life experience of them though.

Bit late now as you've already ordered but I think you've made a good choice. Other than a slightly softer feel in hard cornering I haven't found any downsides to the WR A3s compared to the original fit Dunlop SP 01s. Around 1200 miles done since fitting them with temperatures down to 2C so far (sleet/rain but no snow yet). Even with the higher temps we're now having (up to 15C) they've felt extremely competent.

Ive not yet driven on a set of winters that feel as firm as the normal tyres but the Michelin Alpins I had on the Yeti earlier in the year were the closest so far. It'll be interesting to see how these compare and Ive noticed that several tyre resellers list 'Nokian' as a premium (Not a mid range) manufacturer along with Michelin, Goodyear, Continental etc. These will be my first Nokians!

Have 195/55 R15 winters on both our Fabia II's, one with Blizzak LM30's the other Avon's ST. The Avon's also beat the Bridgestone IMHO despite the professional reviews suggesting it should be the other way round.

Consider the Hankook W310's as good as the summer Conti's in terms of ride firmness, at temps up to about 12-15 degrees and set to the + 0.2 bars additional pressure recommended by Skoda.

Only difference really between them, is a little extra tyre noise from the winter pattern on gravel rash road surfaces and obviously the improved grip.

Just to bring this one full circle - Ive now had them on the car for a few weeks and they are absolutely fantastic. Excellent refinement, good feedback through the wheel, very quiet. Also, traction is exceptional, even when pushing the 300 horses through hard last night in the light rain - absolutely superb! Im a happy bunny, especially as they saved me a small bundle compared to the 'premium' brands.

Glad to hear the winters are proving their worth. Just been on the phone to my dad, who tells me his neighbour in the recent cold snap wrote off his A4, as he couldn't stop and ran into the back of something in front; oops!!!

That of course is the danger, you can stop and fools, particularly W/Y rated sports tyres, cannot :no:

That, sadly, I what most people don't consider. You can usually pull away ok with summers (especially on a 4wd) but the steering and braking are totally incomparable on winters!
