Engine oil for Fabia 1.4 16V 101ps 40.000km

Featured Replies

Hi boys  Please help me with this problem. Till now I've bought only Castrol SLX full sintetic 0W30, but I thing that it's thin for my car! Which is the best engine oil for my 40.000km Fabia?

I have been topping mine up with 10/40 part synthetic. This is what Halfords recommend (not sure if it right though). Might want to get that checked. It has been running okay though, and it hasn't been using quite as much as it has done in the past.

Does yours drink a bit of engine oil over time?

Yes, and because of this I think that 0W30 is thin for this engine! It drinks 1.2 litter per ~ 12000km

I was thinking about putting in that kind of oil. It probably goes slightly faster, but Im not sure that having been run all its life on 10/40 it would appreciate being run on 0/30. I think it would drink it, as you say it is.

So I think to buy now 5W40 full synthetic but also I want someone to recommend me something

The handbook advises using a multigrade high lubricity oil which meets specification VW 500 00 or 502 00, or a multigrade oil meeting specification VW 501 01. I am not sure which particular Castrol SLX oil you are using - there are a a number of different one - but Castrol SLX LongLife II 0W-30 is a spec VW 503 00, 506 00, 506 01 oil for cars on variable servicing and is not recommended for your engine. Try searching the internet for VW 500 00 and VW 502 00 (I used Google) and it should lead you to a range of suitable oils which are available in your country.

5w-40 full synthetic or a 10w-40 semi synthetic.

The full synthetics are the quality option.

Guy.
