problems with the bolero multi-system

Featured Replies

I recently bought an Octavia with the bolero multi-system audio. I found that audio tracks on Sd cards and Cds are not being randomly shuffled. Skoda does not consider this a problem but I do. Does anybody have any solution to the problem?

Any suggestion and advice would be much appreciated

Thanks

Have you told it to 'Mix' the tracks?

The Bolero will only shuffle tracks on the current CD / folder until its complete and then move onto the next folder / cd. if this is what you have then there is no fault and the system is working correctly.

For SD cards their is a workaround. Place a single MP3 file at the top of the folder structure, now play this track with mix switched on and when its finished it will mix fully across all the folders.

For CD's there is no workaround however.

There is also a limit to the mix that I found with MDI (will prob be the same for SD too). I have a USB hard drive on the MDI with about 30GB of music on. Have a dummy track at the root of the file system then get it to shuffle. This works fine, but will only do the first set of folders as I think it has a read limit of 1000 or 2000 tracks for the mix. As the music is arranged in folders with the band name it only mixes tracks up to around G, so GinaG in the mix but not Iron Maiden :-(

You will see a similar thing with playlists. If it is longer than a certain length it briefly locks up the bolero and causes a soft reset. However, if you have less that this limit you can put all your tracks on a playlist and shuffle that.

Ooh aah, what a diverse collection! Very "motiv8"ing.

I was talking to my dealer about MDI and the ability to connect a hard drive, but it sounds like I would get a disproportionate number of "guilty pleasure" tracks from:

2Unlimited

5ive

Alex K

Aqua

Bananarama

Basshunter

Betty Boo

Black Box

Blackout Crew

Cappella

Cascada

Dannii

Darren Styles

Donna Summer

Europe

Go-Go's

Hazell Dean

and less "serious" stuff from:

Muse

Rage Against The Machine

Portishead

The Cult

U2

XTM & DJ Chucky (just checking you're paying attention)

Oh, crap - street cred's just gone downhill and I forgot to use a pseudonym. Might as well throw Vengaboys into the "cheese amnesty" pot...

Not as badly as...

...it only mixes tracks up to around G, so GinaG in the mix....

;) :p

My MDI seems to almost create mix lists for itself to play with, about 40 tracks will get repeated for a couple of days, then about half will be swapped for some of the redundant ones. and so on. Then every now and again it will throw in a completely random track from elsewhere in the folder. The "other" folders on the USB stick are not good for shuffle (Dark Side Of The Moon, War Of The Worlds etc), but it never seems to get to them.

Only after posting i've alised that mannyo has already posted the workaround.

The only way i managed to get it to work is, to leave one mp3 file either on disc or a sd card in a ROOT - main folder of the disc.

Meaning that when you put your files on sd or cd your folders should be like so:

G:\\

album 1

Album2

Album3

Album4

whateversongyouplease.mp3

And when you want to mix your media. ALWAYS play the root song first ( whateversongyouplease.mp3 ) then press MIX, and it will mix ALL folders on your media.

You are all obviously just as old as me (and fancied her just a little bit!), not one person said "Gina who?" :p

We need a whole new topic, MDI guilty pleasures :)

OK, I have to confess to owning her album, and CD single, as well as both Aqua “Barbie Girl“ CD singles and no less than 5 different versions of Spagna's "Call Me" (she has a great voice on her album tracks) - and all bought before I had kids who I've weened on every Clubland CD known to man.

And just for RainbowFire's benefit - I don't play this stuff in my Fun with the back seats down (well, at least not in built-up areas) if you know what I mean...

We all love a bit of Scooter though (and the nearest McDonald's is over 20 miles away).

Not ever been sure about "Street cred" in a Fun Truck though :p :p

Makes no difference in mine............I put speakers in the back! :o O
