Hello VRS question!

Featured Replies

Hi Everyone,

Currently running a Lexus IS250, nice to drive around in until you have to visit the petrol station at which point I start to feel a bit queasy! I am looking for a replacement and narrowed it down to a Octavia VRS with the TSI engine.

The question I have is, having read a post on this forum effectively calling VAG beelzebub  for the way they have treated UK owners knowing there are issues with their product. As a current owner of either the TFSI or TSI model petrol VRS would you recommend or by one again? If this question has already been posed I would be greatful if someone could point the newbie in the right direction.

Cheers!

Sorry Machone, I've got a CR Blackline so can't help with your specific question about the petrol derrivative, but as a car I love mine and have no regrets buying it and hopefully the Petrol squad will help you out. Welcome to the forum. Ade

I have had my TFSI petrol vRS from new (6 years now) and would definitely get another, I came from a straight six IS200 sport which are even more thirsty than yours, the final straw was £540 routine service!

Hi and welcome aboard.

Whatever you decide you won't be disappointed.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the welcome and your replies. Bluevrs2 it just goes to show how two people owning the same car can have totally different experiences, I still have a TTE supercharged IS200 Sport which I cannot fault (returned on avg 450 to the tank on motorway trips and 400 urban) as well as the IS250. Why are you changing I hear you ask? The missus was getting jealous of the time I was spending tinkering with the IS200, repalced stereo with double din satnav and new speakers all round etc, ect. Yes I admit it I'm a little tinker!

Looked at the IS250 and thought ahh comes with all the bits just over 200 Bhp and an early model so I only pay £270 road tax problem solved , or so I thought. I didn't realise how addicted I had become to the supercharged torque, sound, and it's ability to put a smile on my face, something the heavier IS250 for all it's creature comforts cannot compete with.

Having been doing some research in to Insurance grouping, MPG, BHP, Spec, practicality, reliability and last but not least driver satisfaction, I have to say pound for pound there isn't a lot out there that ticks as many boxes as the Octavia VRS I or II. Will let you know how I get on.

Cheers!
