peugeot 308sw auto

Featured Replies

Got a 308sw auto diesel as hire car for a week or two, cant belive they are allow to sell that rubblish gearbox. its very much like a smart cars box( manual gear with auto clutch) so it takes around 0.5 second to change each gear, drive it fast and it kind of pause for every gear change (not comfortable), if you drive very slow then it is only just acceptable cant compare with DSG. i belive the citigo has same style gearbox, please test drive it and put foot down and see what happens before you buy it, it is garbage, The engine is powerless, only thing good is the stop start works well but i find it annoying as the car virbates very time it starts so i have turn it off, just hope they sort my car out fast

But what you are comparing there is a DSG dual clucth system to a single clutch automated manual.

If you were changing gear in a manual car you would have the same pause for a gearchange and would not get a seamless power delivery.

If you are used to a smooth automated manual or a proper auto though they are pretty hard to get used to.

What size engine is it? The 1.6 HDI I assume?

It's a Peugeot. Nice to look at, good price and spec but when you get down to it... pretty poor.

Nice to look at????????

Modern Peugeots are hideous.

The gearbox is the one thing that absolutely ruins their new hybrid diesel AWD drivetrain, otherwise it would be revolutionary i think.

i have learn to lift off gas and change gear by paddle for a smoother change, but that kind of defect the object of autobox,

They were true auto boxes (torque converter etc) so cannot be compared to this one.

Comparing mercs and BMWs to a pug is like comparing a fabia to a Bentley! The pugs are alright cars, I've had a few through work either peugeot or citroens and they're fine for what they are, simple A-B car. Plus the 1600hdi (if that's what you've got) is a good little engine.

The car is ok 7000miles no rattles , a bit gutless, its the autobox i am complaining about, you try to pull out on a roundabout, a space not big, put my foot down and it shot forward , pause for half second before it changes to second and the car jerks forward until it is time to change the 3rd , very dangerous on a busy roundabout. when parking on a uphill/downhill you just down know when the clutch will engage. just dont buy a single clutch autobox
