My electric fan is on all the time. I have plugged my VCDS in and the following fault shows up, but I have no idea what it means. Can anyone help please.

Open circuit/short circuit to positive implausible signal

Possible cause of fault :

Wiring or plug connections defective

Control unit in dash panel insert -J218- defective

Rectifying fault:

– Check wiring and plug connections according to the current flow diagram ? Current flow diagrams and Fitting locations. – Test CAN databus ? Chapter, if necessary replace control unit in dash panel insert.

Did you ever fix this Nackuk?  Mine does it too and has done ever since getting the car.  No ill effect (though I think it is the reason I sometimes see some German text on the dash dot matrix display relating to the satnav not being active yet).  Clear it and it goes away for a while, then comes back eventually.

Well I solved the fan issue, that was the pressure switch for the air con failed in high pressure mode (there is a thread for it in the superb section), but no actual signal recorded on the VCDS regarding this item inparticular, I just worked it out from the ciruit diagrams.. Looking at my last VCDS readout from servicng last month this didn't come up again???
