Periodic MPG problems in Fabia vRS

Featured Replies

Calculated my mpg yesterday. The result 30.?? mpg. I tend to sit around the 36/37 mpg mark but the last fill has been the lowest yet. I have tried a few different fuels, but persoanlly prefer Tesco pumps for the money ?

I have recently fitted a Green Cotton filter, but covered 1200 miles since fitting, so i assume it isn't that.

I drive the car hard, once warm, all the time. But as i said 36/37 is the norm, but it has taken quite a dip ???

Any thoughts ?

i cant get above 50mpg now average no matter how easy i take it

I've also noticed a dip lately and my last tank was down to 45mpg (based on at the pump calculations). I put it down to doing an extra 50 miles a day on clear motorways, but it may also be down to the air con working harder too? :D

Chris

Drive it gentle and use overrun if you want better mpg, this should return mid 50's - if it doesn't perhaps there's a problem.

I can and mines tuned. But only really on a motorway cruise where I can get about 55-57mpg though normally around town it's in the low 40's

As i said. I drive the car hard. That is how i drive !

I usually get 36/37 driving how i always drive. The last tank of fuel i achieved 30 mpg.

I am aware lighter driving will improve my mpg, but i was wondering why i would have a dip though given my normal route and driving technique hasn't changed ?

By being gentle for a day or two you can see what it will return as a maximum (or a good effort at least), thereby determining whether it is your driving or a problem.

Change in weather, maybe it was hotter?
