Ye olde glow plug

Featured Replies

Hello Folks,

I have pickled up threads in the past about the glow plug light. My 2007 Octavia Tdi Vrs has a similar issue, but...light comes on for a split second with visit workshop. Car is warm, had travelled some 30 miles today with no problem. Goes out as quickly as it came on, car returns 45 mpg, runs well. But with this light coming on occasionally it is a bit worrying.

However first time today it stayed on, reduced power, pulled over, stopped engine, waited 30 seconds, started engine, no light, no warning. Can all this be related to the brake light switch ???

Have you checked the brakelights?

I wouldn't expect a faulty glowplug would put the car into limp home mode, although a flashing glow plug light does have numerous meanings.

I'd be tempted to get the car scanned...

I had the car scanned over the weekend after I changed the mass flow air valve, only fault was the MAV.
