First time owner.. Octavia 07 2.0 TDI DSG Ambiente Estate

Featured Replies

Hi,

Hellooo everyone.. first time owner and I am very very pleased with the car.

I used to drive an 04 V40 1.9 petrol.. there is a huge difference !, but I still love the Volvo too. It's a workhorse.. reliable and it was our wedding car too.

I am based in Worthing and it's good to see a good few Skoda's out there.

I had a few questions so I will ask them here... as I cannot seem to post anything up on the Tech site..

The locking and unlocking of the car..

Why does not the car remember that you pushed the central unlock button in the centre console.. ? It's quite annoying that when you return with your shopping and when you unlock the car the rear doors don't unlock and the boot is not unlocked already. It's a bit of a faff to push the boot door button again on the fob and crawl inside and push the central unlock button. Am I missing something here ? Plus this little button in the centre really needs a good ol' push..

Also there seems to be no arm rest for my left arm .. it just looks like an open utility tray.. Can I retro fit a padded arm rest? Were they standard on an Ambiente? Do you think it's just missing?

Should'nt it say Ambiente on the rear tail badge also? It's ok as it says so on the reg doc..

Shame to see that cruise control was not on this car.. can this be retro fitted ?

Also is there an aux input to the stereo system - like for an ipod? I was expect some 3/4" jack input for this.. is there? Where is it as the manual does not mention it.

Look forward to working with the car as I will be using it for work. It feels great to drive.

Stephen.

Welcome to Briskoda, Stephen. The appropriate place to post your queries is in the Octavia II forum below.

Cruise control can be retrofitted. A single blip of the remote unlock button only unlocks the driver's door. Two blips unlocks all the doors. This feature can be reprogrammed by a dealer (or a Briskoda member with VCDS - a diagnostic tool) so that all the doors open with one blip. If your car auto-locks as it reaches circa 15kph, that feature can be disabled too if, like me, you don't want it.

Hi and welcome aboard.

Hello Stephen, welcome along

thanks everyone.. thanks also to DGW for the informative reply.. I must remember 2 blips to open all.. very handy.. I may even get it reprogrammed at my local dealer.

Just need to get the missing cargo nets for the back load space.

Picking up some new blades today - I am quite new to these flat blades.. quite expensive so I hope they last the expected year. I am a bit OCD on the wash-wipe !!!

Much to learn you have ;)

Your dealer may charge you for recoding, check with them first and if they do look up someone on here with VCDS that is near to you as they'll do it for a couple of beer tokens at most.

Wiper blades, do a search in the Octy forum as there'll be quite a few recommendations where to get good ones cheaper than the stealer

Hi freedom ,

I tried doing a wiper blade search but nothing came up.. I just put wiper blade in the search box at the top right.. maybe amazon ?

Anyone have any idea how to connect an ipod to the sound system? In my volvo it had a gadget like a cassette with a 1/4" jack lead off it.. but the skoda sound system looks like the flight deck of the starship enterprise to me..

thanks

Stephen
