thats just what im after, a decent MPI felicia for a couple hundred quid. the sump is one i forgot yeh, you should use the old style aluminium sump (looks better anyway) with the estelle/rapid oil pickup/strainer too.

Anyone fitted a megasquirt to a Favorit or Felicia, or used it with a Fabia engine to make transplants easier?

had a mint one several years ago.....they can have self destructing distributors ..check for alloy deposit in the cap...and also head gasket goes aprox every 40000 miles....watch out for eng liner problems as that is what killed mine

verry roomy for its size and great fun to drive

biggest problem is, wrong coolant, or just water used.

waterways corrode, headgasket goes.

Pistons are disturbed while the head is off and without lockdown bolts, so the shims move.

once the shims/liners are moved you are looking at a whole world of pain getting the liners back in place and getting the deck height even across all 4 cylinders. thats why some people resign a BHG engine to the parts heap and search out a either a Favorit or Felicia MPi engine to bolt the old Estelle/Rapid manifolds on and run on Carbs.

Believe it or not, go to the following website and underneath this Porshe 550 Spyder Replica bodyshell is a Skoda Rapid!

Public Album

Waste of a very rare and now appreciating classic car. Rapid prices are going up substantially now days, and theres VERY few of them left on the road, shame to butcher good cars.

There are far less Rapids than there are original Spyders. Bearing in mind the way the chassis twists after you cut a Rapid out its beyond me why people bother. The good news is the guy selling those kits dont make them anymore.

:) My Rapid 136, and a typical view of the front of my house.

I bet your neighbours love you :D

The Rapid looks lovely though

I love the Rat(even though ive never driven it) hint hint , but I must say Dave has the nicest Rapid ive ever seen. Even though I know its been resprayed etc etc the interior is just so genuine the car just looks right. Stunning motor. Every time I see it I have to give it a close inspection.

dave. can i come live with you?

:) Yeah, no probs, would be great to have another Skoda parked outside! That pic doesn't actually show all my old heaps, I have another few too! When they are all at home and my mate visits with his Felicia, and my mum also visits in her Felicia it does look rather cool outside my house if you're a Skoda freak! One of my neighbours also parks his Fabia on the road outside our house too!:D

I went to the south of France once in one of those with my girlfriend at the time, her mum and dad and a caraven! Exactly the same colour as well, it took four days each way though but he drove like a doddering old fart on weed!

Em why? It's a good enough finish, but it will never sound like a 550, and it's not like there isn't a 550 replica kit available for the VW Type 1 floorpan.

Ross, wrt the MPi transplant project, I'd agree with the idea of running the crank sensor off the front (well rear I suppose) pulley.

I'm not sure that throttle bodies are that sensitive to "lean angle" like carbies are, because AIUI the problem with leaning a carb was with the float chamber fuel height, and obviously with no need to control fuel level to prevent under or over-fuelling...
